Lathemaster 9 X 30 Metal Lathe Initial Review
by Lathe on May.20, 2009, under Lathe Videos
A brief review of the Lathemaster 9 X 30 lathe. Although I’ve not had a chance to put this lathe through its paces, it looks like this is a *very* well built lathe and is far beyond the average Asian home machine shop lathe. I’ll have more reviews as I get to use the machine more.

OH MY, when you turned that on I ran for the hills. In all seriousness, that sounded horrible. Like the bearings were full of grit. You might be suprised how much grit and crap are really in the bearings on those lowend lathes.

You are correct the video makes the lathe sound very noisy. The camera I use seems to pick up noise in that frequency awful loud!
In fact, the lathe is *very* quiet. I’ve had a gear drive and it’s no comparison to the low noise level of the Lathemaster.
Overall, I find the Lathemaster noise very similar to any other belt drive.
