I was curious to see how you made the outside chamfer as I haven’t seen much reference on that.

The camcorder was positioned at a high angle and the video was taken on a close up position that’s why things seems to be to close. That’s probably made you conclude that it was done in an unsafe way but its not. It was done in a safe way. Also the chips that i took out was already separated from the cutting tool you did not see that because the tool post behind it. Just to let you know i was wearing safety glasses( you can’t see that on the video)

Dude, you really need to be safer with your fingers and hands. Keep them away from the lather when it’s turning. And never use your fingers to remove chips while its turning. You will eventually end up missing some fingers. No joke, be safe man.

560 rpm
November 11th, 2009 on 2:45 pm
Um…maybe I wasn’t paying attention. Would you mind repeating what RPM ‘the same’ was?
Thanks.
Q:)

I used the same RPM . I’m supposed to use lower speed but i decided to just control the cut as it goes while parting.
November 11th, 2009 on 2:45 pm
Out of interest, what sort of revs are you pulling while parting?
Q:)

Well done. It would be better, though, if the camera had been placed in such a way that the cutting edge was clearly visible throughout. As it is, much of the action is hidden behind the toolpost.
