Threading rifle barrels (no replies)

by jdaniel343 on Dec.18, 2009, under Lathe News

Hi,

Can a person use a 20" lathe to cut threads on a barrel by running the barrel thru the spindel bore hole and using a steady rest?

Thanks I am new to lathe operations but it seam that for an occasional threading job this would work. This would help in not having to purchase such a large lathe.

Thanks
